What is a Thread Lift and How Does it Work?

May 3, 2022 | Uncategorized

Aging is an inevitable process which everyone has to experience throughout life.

As you grow, you’ll see sagging skin throughout your body, including your face, as skin tends to produce less collagen.

However, with certain surgeries and treatments, you can overcome the effect of sagging skin.

If you don’t want to invest time in treatments or undergo surgeries, you can go for a thread lift.

In this article, we will learn about thread lift, its procedure and how it benefits the sagging skin.

Without further ado, let’s get started!

What is a Thread Lift?

Thread Lift is an effective non-surgical cosmetic procedure to lift and tighten the sagging skin.

This anti-aging treatment is a low-risk treatment with minimal recovery time.

The treatment provides various benefits such as negated scarring effects, less invasive, fewer costs, and minimal or no downtime compared to other procedures.

With a thread lift, you can treat your drooping jawline, nasolabial folds, drooping eyebrows, and corners of the mouth.

Thread lift can be used in various areas such as jawline, brow line, under-eye area, forehead, and cheeks.

How Does a Thread Lift Work?

The thread lift procedure mainly works in two ways.

The first is relatively straightforward, where the doctor temporarily stitches dissolvable sutures underneath your skin to pull it back tight.

The threads capture the underside of your skin to hold it in place and give an enhanced look to your skin.

Once the thread is inserted, your body reacts to it, and the healing response is triggered.

The thread won’t injure your skin; however, your body detects a suture material and stimulates collagen production in the affected area.

Collagen, a protein that provides firmness to your skin, fills gaps in sagging skin, ultimately giving youthful skin.

Thread Lift Procedure

Depending on the doctors and the skin area you want to be worked on, the procedure may vary slightly.

  • Firstly, your doctor will ask you to recline in the room and then numb your skin with topical anaesthesia.
  • A small cannula needle will be inserted underneath your skin, where they set the threads. The process may take around 30 to 45 minutes.
  • After the threads are in place, the doctor will take out the cannulas. You may feel tightening under your skin and have some irritation for some time.
  • The thread lift procedure is complete, and you’ll see the results soon.

After the procedure, it is suggested to not rub the face vigorously, especially in the treated region.

Furthermore, it is advisable to not sleep on the sides of the treated region for the initial days.

How Long Does a Thread Lift Last?

Once you start with the thread lift, it will take a few months to show the full effects of the treatment.

In the initial stage, tightening the threads will make your skin look younger; however, it will continue to improve as more collagen produces.

Depending on your skin, the effect of thread lift can stay for around six months to 1 year.

Some people tend to get more prolonged effects as their skin produces more collagen than others after the lift.

A study in 2019 showed that there’s a need to evaluate better the long-term efficacy of this quick, in-office procedure.
